Don’t you just love that Autumn is literally around the corner (22nd September) – my favourite season of the year. The autumnal temperatures are warm enough to opt for the stylish jacket/mac and accessorise with scarfs and faux fur to your hearts content. Generally, I wouldn’t class myself as being a ‘coat wearer’ as I warm up real quick so coats aren’t a good shout for me as they retain a lot of heat – just let a girl breathe! As much as I admire other people’s coats, I can’t justify buying one when I know I’d only wear it ten days out of 365 – max. I like my jackets to be thick enough to keep me snug, long enough to cover the essentials, sit flush on my shoulders whilst tying me in nicely around the waist. I’m not asking for much right? I must admit I really struggle with finding jackets that fit the abovementioned and I’ll only invest if I really think it’s worth it.
I was casually strolling the pretty streets of Cheltenham town on a weekend away with the girls when I walked passed H&M’s shop front and this beautiful burnt orange mac caught my eye. At the time, we were preoccupied with filling our hungry bellies so I temporarily admired the mac and carried on along. It was only when we finished our food, on our way back that we conveniently walked passed H&M and it caught my eye .. again! I had to ask the girls if we could hold tracks so I could be cheeky and pop in to try it on. I couldn’t resist!
Delighted at the fact that my find was fully in stock, I initially picked out size large as H&M sizing can be funny; the trousers especially (but that’s a different matter for discussion). It swamped me and so did the medium; so it’s obvious that this is an oversized mac. After trying on all the sizes made, I decided on size XS and it was perfect! Can we just take a minute to appreciate this burnt orange beauty of a statement piece please? Its rich colour, length, tie waist, wide collars and bow tied sleeves – I just adore too many elements of this mac!
The gold trimming that clips the collars together and the D-ring belt really adds to the sophistication and sleekness of this jacket. I love the tie sleeve detail to pull in the oversized sleeves – super cute!
The quality is great and its lining is the perfect thickness to keep me warm once it starts to get chilly; I can even throw on a faux fur collar/scarf to keep me extra snug on a winters day. Usually, I’m not a huge fan of D-ring belt fastenings, but it actually works really well for this jacket. The waist clinching belt definitely emphasises those curves giving a feminine, flattering relaxed look. I’m literally in all kinds of love with this mac and its BEAUTIFUL rich colour!
When I’ve shopped for jackets in the past, I’ve always opted for the ‘safe’ colour; black or beige, but not this time – I’m going to splash my colour with pride! This mac has redefined my wardrobe and will be my autumnal statement piece and I know that I’ll make it work whatever the occasion. I’ve already worn the mac a handful of times and the intense orange really teams well with the colours mustard, black, khaki, grey and navy. The mac is great for outfit building that works for casual looks – a chic grey two piece set with trainers and also looks great with a pencil skirt and heels for more formal/sophisticated looks. I tried to capture the mac in different lights so you get an idea of it’s true colour.
This beautiful mac was purchased in store in Cheltenham and do you think I could locate on the H&M website?! I’ve searched high and low and even other online retailers to find a substitute but really struggled to find anything without it costing an arm and a leg! I only bought this jacket less than a month ago and I’m so glad I did – I would’ve totally regretted if I didn’t purchase it and missed out! Fashionistas – if you wish to get your hands on this jacket then you’re going to have to hunt it down in store! I paid £59.99 and bought size XS – what a steal a I’ve already received some really lovely compliments about this mac and how nice it looks on; definitely a winner! If I happen to find anything similar online, I’ll definitely post an update.
