1. Place of Peace

So far away from where it’s happening

You think you found a place of peace

Just to find that it’s happening everywhere

It’s happening here, there and everywhere.”

Place of peace – Bob Marley

Do you have a place that instantly warms your heart every time you visit? A distraction from your whirlwind? A place that allows you recharge? Feel a sense of peace every time you visit?

I do.

My place of peace is the stunning Earlswood Lakes, Solihull.

Originally built in the 1820’s to provide a water supply to the nearby towns, the lakes took five years to build from the labour of prisoners-of-war from the Napoleonic Wars. Their hard work has certainly paid off and I’m sure you’ll agree going by these beautiful captures I’ve taken!

I must have visited my place of peace at least ten times this year. I don’t ever see myself getting tired of visiting the views that is the Earlswood Lakes. I always spot new finds on each visit; the discovery of three lakes, new walking paths, admiring the long gardens that back on to the lakes, new wildlife and fishermen patiently waiting for their finest catches.

On each of those ten visits, the lakes have never looked identical – I’ve witnessed when the water’s real low and shallow and when the lakes are in full and brimming.

I’ve visited during all seasons of the year; I’d  never need an excuse to visit. My most favourite time to go has to be on a dry, crisp evening (dependant upon the time of year) when the sun is about to set; the way the warm colours of the sunset reflects onto the lakes waters is truly magical.

The lakes are perfect for a good stroll, a jog with your dog and even for a spot of fishing. Get those walking boots on and pay the lakes a visit if you can and get trailing through its beautiful nature! You can even make a pit stop at the Red Lion pub afterwards for a warm brew to warm up those insides – perfect on these autumnal days.

Without taking a break, the stresses of life can get the better of you. Your place of peace could be absolutely anywhere – if it’s at the gym, at your favourite holiday destination, a bench at your local park or even in the bath with some Body Shop luxuries and gorgeous scented candles burning!

I’d LOVE to know where/what your place of peace is. Feel free to drop your comments below.
